The Denver School of the Arts (est. 1991) is the only comprehensive secondary arts magnet school (grades 6-12) in the Rocky Mountain region. Over nine hundred students are provided opportunities to grow academically and artistically in their beautiful complex in Northeast Denver’s Stapleton/Park Hill community.

As a non-tuition public school magnet program, free transportation is provided to students within DPS boundaries. DSA is proud of its diverse student population and a campus culture that is accepting of all personalities. Students are admitted to DSA through an audition process in one art major of their choice: Band, Creative Writing, Dance, Orchestra, Piano, Stagecraft & Design, Theatre, Video Cinema Arts, Visual Art or Vocal Music. DSA is rated “Exceeding” on District Accountability Report Cards and has won the John Irwin School of Excellence Award in both 2003 and 2004. DSA’s comprehensive and challenging standards-based academic program includes Honors and AP classes, college credit coursework, and post-secondary options. DSA posts the district’s highest graduation rate and the overwhelming majority of its students move on to universities or conservatories.
